Rachel Wood, a financial planner, began her career with MetLife Resources in 1997. She has more than two decades of award-winning experience working with affluent individuals, families, business owners, and nonprofit organizations. Her diverse background and training allow her to help clients pursue their long-term financial goals through goal-oriented and financial planning.

A comprehensive, client-focused approach to financial planning ensures that the recommended portfolios encompass each client’s unique financial goals, time frames, and risk tolerance. She works closely with clients to develop customized strategies that incorporate asset allocation, financial management, retirement planning, college planning, and succession planning. Each plan is continually reviewed to measure its achievements against stated aims, reconfirm goals, and adjust as economic and life situations change.

Starting her career, she was awarded MetLife Resources Rookie of the year. She was recognized several times by MetLife Resources and qualified for the Golden Circle Award. After transitioning her career to MetLife Financial Service, she achieved various recognition including Leader’s Council, President’s Council, and Chairman’s Council recognition. In 2006 Rachel was awarded Financial Planner Rookie of the year for MetLife. Then in 2014, she was awarded the MetLife Premier Client Group Advisor Leadership Award for her work in the not-for-profit community.

Rachel is a 1993 graduate of West Virginia University with a BS. She currently holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations. In addition, she has her life and health insurance license.

She currently resides in Morgantown, WV, with her husband, Todd, and her two children, Audrey and Noah. They enjoy spending time as a family boating, traveling, and attending mountaineer sporting events. She and her husband are lifetime members of West Virginia University Alumni. Rachel is also a member of several organizations including Chestnut Ridge Church, Bonnie Bailey Dyslexia Awareness Foundation, Morgantown Rotary Club, West Virginia Botanic Garden, a lifetime member of the Humane Society, a lifetime member of West Virginia University Alumni, Friends of the Arts, and the Women’s Giving Circle where she is a founding member. Currently, she serves on the board of Your Community Foundation of Northern WV and the Bonnie Bailey Dyslexia Awareness Foundation.  She is passionate about protecting children, helping to strengthen the social fabric of her local community by helping break cycles of poverty and abuse, improving our education system for people with dyslexia, and caring for nature and animals.

In 2018, their son Noah was diagnosed with dyslexia. The lack of resources for providing the appropriate education for students with dyslexia was shocking to the Wood family. The second shock was that there were no Orton Gillingham-trained teachers in their local public school system. The experience that Rachel and her family experienced dealing with the public schools leading up to and following the diagnosis has led her and her husband to start the Bonnie Bailey Dyslexia Advocacy Fund at YCF and the Bonnie Bailey Dyslexia Awareness, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. Both organizations are named in honor of their close friend Bonnie Bailey who passed away from glioblastoma. Bonnie also has a son with dyslexia. It is with high hopes that they pursue the goal of educating the public and providing change so that all children with dyslexia are given the opportunity to maximize their gifts and talents.

Rachel’s core belief is that every client is a member of her VWS family and should be treated with the utmost care, respect and professionalism. Starting with a planning foundation with attention to detail Rachel’s goal is to build a long-lasting relationship. The foundation for this relationship is based upon trust, education, advocacy, and accountability for the achievement of goals.

After immigrating to the US, I started my career in financial planning and have been in business for more than 25 years. My experience is largely based on working with individual families, business owners, and their employees. 

My philosophy and work style go beyond a holistic approach, that is customized for my clients’ lifestyle, their family’s financial needs as well as business owners whose personal finances often get blended with their business. 

I work hand-in-hand with a team of financial professionals, including my client’s accountants and attorneys, to ensure the highest quality of service, as well as provide them with sound and actionable advice.

I love to travel with my family, soaking up the history and culture of other countries. I have two children that I adore. Through my children, I have become very involved in neuroscience and astronomy.

Tressa Wood is a financial planner with Virtus Wealth Solutions. She was born and raised in Fairmont, West Virginia, and graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in business management. She started working with Rachel Wood in 2013. Tressa provides clients with integrated financial solutions and works with individuals, families, and business owners as they look to build financial security through every stage of life.  As part of a specialized team, she can tap into a wide range of planning resources and provide clients with holistic planning and customized solutions to help them successfully fulfill their financial goals and objectives. Clients can benefit from Tressa’s sincerity, expertise, and personal focus. Susan was born and raised in Liverpool, NY.  Susan is a graduate of Syracuse University with a BS. She began working for Rachel Wood in 2010 and has since enjoyed being part of an evolving practice while working with an amazing team and a wonderful, diverse group of clients.  She currently resides in Morgantown, WV, with her husband, Jason, and daughter Haley.  Outside of the office she likes to bake with her daughter and enjoys spending time with her family outdoors.

Racheal was born and raised in Rivesville, WV.  Racheal is a graduate of Fairmont State University, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She worked in the financial industry for two years prior to joining Virtus Wealth Solutions in 2016. Racheal enjoys assisting in meeting client needs, as well as working with the Virtus team.

Outside of the office, she likes to cook and adores spending time with her husband, Doug, daughter Mila, and dog Bentley.

Farah is from India and grew up in Bahrain, a small island in the Middle East. She received her degree in computer science. She has worked in the financial industry for the past 20 years having started her career working for Merrill Lynch Investment Bank in Bahrain and then moving to Washington DC, where she was a registered client associate. She has been with Virtus Wealth Solutions for more than 10 years and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
